The Digital Nomad's Toolkit: What's Inside My Tech Bag?

The more I travel the more I realize how important it is to keep a tech bag at your fingertips with the right gadgets. I’ve broken down what we keep in our tech bag and if you need some suggestions we’re here to help!

First and foremost the tech organizer I am currently using, testing, and loving is the PGYTECH tech organizer, which I use to hold all of my small tech gadgets. If you’d like an in-depth review of this tech bag itself, here you go Tech Bag Review

Because a smaller tech organizer will allow you to be intentional with the items you bring when traveling this is our pick.

Tech Bag Essentials

  1. Portable Power Banks

  2. Charging cables

  3. Portable Hard Drive

  4. Wireless Earbuds

  5. High-Speed card reader

  6. Travel adapter

Here is a breakdown of what I keep in my tech bag.

Portable Power Banks

A portable power bank is a crucial item in my tech bag. I think it might be my most used item, I have the tendency to run my battery when I’m traveling especially when traveling long distances. With this power bank, I am able to charge three devices simultaneously.

The one we use is the Anker 733 Power Bank. This is by far the best portable charger I’ve ever had, it has a 2-in-1 charger with a hybrid 65W wall charger and a 10,000mAh portable charger. It has 2 USB-C ports and 1 USB-A port making it accessible to a wide range of devices. I recommend the Anker 733 to anyone looking for a high-quality portable power bank.

Charging Cables

One of the very first items I pack are my chargers and cables. I feel like this is one of those items no one leaves their house without anymore. My favorite charging cables are from Magtame. I have the USB A to Lightning and the USB C to Lightning cables.

The cool thing about these charging cables is that they are magnetic which allows them to be clutter-free, and you can curl them to any size you want allowing them to fit practically anywhere.

Portable Hard Drive

A very important tech item is a portable hard drive because it allows for the hard drive on your machine to not be loaded down with photos and videos. I like to use external hard drives to organize my files and have them easily accessible to me. Not to mention it allows you to share files with others pretty effortlessly.

External hard drives also allow for backing up your computer in case damage occurs to your hard drive. The one I keep in my tech bag is the SSK portable 1TB. It transfers massive files in seconds and it’s small enough that it doesn’t take up space.

Wireless Earbuds

I think we can all agree that our earphones are some of the most important tech items. It’s nice to be able to disconnect whether you’re traveling, going to work, or wanting to escape for a little bit. I like having small earbuds that will fit anywhere and the Apple Airpods are the perfect size.

They are wireless, have audio sharing and, noise canceling. It’s no wonder the Apple Airpods are many people’s choice of earbuds.

High-Speed Card Reader

A high-speed card reader is an important part of my tech bag as Apple decided to remove its card slots on the Macbook Pros.

The high-speed card reader allows for an easier way to access the memory of these cards. The PGYTECH High-speed card reader case has a transfer of 312MB/S it effortlessly stores, reads, and allows you to change the memory card on the go.

It can accommodate 4 SD Cards, 4 Micro SD Cards, and 2 Nano SIM cards. It also includes a pin to easily remove the SIM cards and a reader for SD Cards and Micro SD! That’s pretty cool. With its Type C interface, it allows for easy access between the card reader and your devices.

Travel Adapter

If you’re traveling internationally this should be an essential part of your tech gadgets. A travel adapter enables you to plug your devices into walls with different sockets than the one used by your country.

There are many travel adapters out there so when researching which one to get you could either get a Universal adapter or one specific to the country you are traveling to.

Personally, I would opt out of the universal ones as they are bulky, and take up space. Most charging blocks can already handle 110 and 220 with the difference in voltage.

Overview

It’s been crucial to keep my tech essentials close by and organized. I’ve found it relieves the stress of running around trying to find the things I need.

Finding good quality products has also been quite the struggle, yes you can find relatively cheap essentials such as chargers but they break easily, aren’t efficient and overall end up giving me more of a headache than helping.

When it comes to items we use pretty much every day I suggest investing in high-quality products, and that not always means expensive. After some research, these are the products that have worked out incredibly well for me, I’ve been using these for months if not years and I hope they work out for you too.

Overall simplifying the items you have in your tech bag will allow you to find your items fast and stress-free. Getting high-quality products will also help you save money in the long run as you won’t have to replace cheap materials over and over. I hope this list helps you analyze and rethink the items you have in your tech bag to make it more efficient for your travel, work, and personal life.
