I have been using the Manta Sleep Mask Pro as my main sleep mask for about 10 months now. I love using it and it’s been fantastic for traveling and for any of those nights I find it hard to fall asleep. If you’d like to see my full review for that mask, you can find that here. After reviewing that mask. Manta was kind enough to send out a new kind of sleep mask they released. The Manta Sound. Let’s get into my full review.

A full video review of the Manta Sound.

Overview

This sleep mask is pricey there is no denying it. As of writing this post, it’s selling for $143. (Gulp)

It features super thin Bluetooth speakers and a 20-hour battery life

It has zero pressure 100% blackout eyecups

And comes with a mesh storage/wash bag

A USB A to USB C charging cable

A manual

And two stickers

Design & Durability

This sleep mask is very well built just like other Manta products that I have used. They use high-quality materials and the velcro is nice and strong now (They have upgraded their velcro) which is great. That was my only annoyance with my Sleep Mask Pro, it had weak velcro. But they fixed that issue across their masks which was much needed.

The materials on the inside are nice and soft on your skin and the material on the eye cups super comfortable. The eye cups are a little firm at first but they quickly soften up with a few wears. The edges of this mask are all finished with a nice durable piping to keep any edge from fraying.

Even down to the stitching, everything is finished very well. The stitching lines are straight and uniform and I didn’t have any loose thread on my mask.

Comfort & Blackout

These are probably the two most important factors in a sleep mask and I think Manta Sleep did a fantastic job with this.

These C-shaped tapered eye cups block absolutely everything out. You won’t be able to see any light coming through if you’ve adjusted the eye cups properly to fit your face shape.

And as far as the comfort of this sleep mask goes. I am really surprised with how comfortable this mask is while being worn, especially while side sleeping. With the tapered eyecups and super thin speakers, you won’t need to worry about any discomfort while on your side. That being said, this mask is a bit heavy. They include a top head strap as well to help with this problem so make sure to use that secondary strap to keep things comfortable.

With the adjustability of the speakers, you can easily slide the speakers right over your ears which makes for a comfortable listening experience.

The Sound

Alright onto the main trick of this sleep mask. How do these things sound? Well, they sound pretty good as long as you’re not comparing them to dedicated high-quality headphones. Due to just how crazy thin these speakers are they just won’t have the dynamic sound profile found in headphones but that’s alright. You can’t sleep with dedicated headphones. However, with these ones, you can sleep no problem, in fact, it’s comfortable to sleep with these speakers on.

One con my wife actually noticed while I was wearing them was that she could hear what I was listening to. Granted I did have the volume up quite a bit. Probably around 80%, but that is something to keep in mind. These are not going to be good for people who want to sit a listen to music loud, just use headphones for that. But for listening to podcasts, audiobooks, relaxing music, and stuff at a more relaxing audio level, these will be great.

Is The Manta Sound Worth It?

Overall, I think this is a fantastic sleep mask option from Manta Sleep. And for people who enjoy listening to something while dozing off, that is really where this mask shines. For people who don’t listen to anything while falling asleep or who need complete silence skip this mask and go for the Manta Sleep Mask Pro instead. Manta has yet again impressed me with this mask and I not going to have a problem recommending it to others.
