If you're someone who loves to travel, finding the right credit card can be a game changer. There are plenty of credit cards out there that offer travel rewards, but the Venture Card by Capital One is one that stands out from the crowd. This is the main card I use when I’m not working on getting a sign-up bonus on a different card.

Here are a few reasons why the Venture Card by Capital One is the best credit card I’ve found for travel.

1. Generous sign-up bonus

One of the best things about the Venture Card is its generous sign-up bonus. New cardholders can earn 75,000 bonus miles after spending $4,000 on purchases within the first 3 months of account opening (At least for now). That amount of points is worth $750 in travel credits at an absolute minimum of a 1 cent per point redemption rate. Making it a great way to jumpstart your travel rewards and make your next trip even more affordable. But you can absolutely make those points more valuable than $750. For example, my trip to Japan this year. (Link to that blog post) The tickets to Tokyo from Seattle would’ve cost me around $1,500 if I paid for them in cash. But I used my Venture Card points wisely and got that ticket for only 43,000 points + $51.28 in Taxes and Fees. That’s a redemption rate of 3.5 cents per point. That’s more like it! If you got a 3.5 cent per point redemption rate, that 75,000 point sign-up bonus would be worth $2,625. Granted you’d have to be really smart with how to use your points but they can be worth a whole lot of money if used right.

2. Earn rewards on every purchase

With the Venture Card, you'll earn 2x miles on every purchase you make, every day. There are no categories to remember, no rotating rewards, and no limit to how many miles you can earn. Making it easy to accumulate rewards quickly, no matter where you shop. Which also means if you use the same math we did for the sign-up bonus and your able to routinely redeem your points for 3.5 cents per point. Your looking at 7 cents per point with this card since it gives you 2 points per dollar spent. I know this is a lot of math but in short, you can get crazy travel benefits with this card when you know how to use it. Hence why, it’s my favorite travel card.

3. Flexible redemption options

The Venture Card offers flexible redemption options. You can redeem your miles for statement credits to cover travel purchases made with your card at 1 cent per point, you can get access to and use Capital Ones travel portal, or you can transfer your miles to any of Capital One's airline or hotel partners. Which, is where you will usually get the best redemption rates. This gives you the freedom to use your rewards however you want, whether that's booking a flight, hotel stay, or rental car.

4. No foreign transaction fees

When you're traveling abroad, the last thing you want to worry about is paying extra fees on every transaction. The Venture Card has no foreign transaction fees, so you can use your card freely knowing that you won't be hit with any surprise charges. Nothing makes me more upset than random fees.

5. Travel benefits and insurance

The Venture Card also offers a variety of travel benefits and insurance. For example, you'll get travel accident insurance, auto rental collision damage waiver, and 24-hour travel assistance services. Keep in mind to get these benefits you’ll need to have used your Venture Card to purchase the flight or rental car. You will also get perks that make you feel super fancy while traveling such as global entry or TSA pre-check reimbursement of $100. So you can skip the super long lines at the airport and get to your lounge faster. Oh yeah, The lounge access. You will also get 2 free lounge visits per year to their brand-new Capital One Lounges, where you can get free food, coffee, alcohol, and grab-and-go snacks. You can even do some yoga or a cycling workout. And then take a shower afterward. And once your all showered up head to their relaxation room and take a quick nap before your next flight. I’m serious haha this is what I meant by fancy perks. The only bummer about the lounges is that there is only one at the moment in DFW airport. Two more are coming soon though in DEN and IAD.

6. Easy to manage

Finally, the Venture Card is easy to manage. You can track your rewards, set up automatic payments, and manage your account all in one place. Plus, you can access your account through the Capital One app, which makes it easy to stay on top of your spending and rewards no matter where you are. Out of all my cards Capital One's app is the easiest and most user-friendly app to work with.

Overall, the Venture Card by Capital One is a great option for anyone who loves to travel. With its generous sign-up bonus, easy-to-earn rewards, flexible redemption options, and travel benefits and insurance, it's no wonder that this card is a top choice for many frequent travelers including myself. So, if you're in the market for a new travel credit card, be sure to consider the Venture Card by Capital One!
